Finnish transport agency intensifies control of rail wagon weights

We have received from Finnish Transport Agency a notification on intensified wagon weight control from 1 June 2011. The controls are made with wheel load indicators installed on the track. Finnish Transport Agency will send VR Transpoint Rail Logistics a request for clarification every week regarding the cases in which the wagon total weight and/or axel-by-axle load was exceeded. We will draw up the requested clarification and action plan together with our customers.

Exceeding the permitted weight may on a case-by-case basis lead to either the removal of the wagons from the train or partial unloading of the cargo during transport. The costs for each measure are born by the consignor.
