Lost consignment

If the consignment has not been delivered at the agreed time or the consignment or part of it is lost, please contact our destination delivery terminal or directly our claims handling. For contact information of the terminals click here and for claims handling click here. You can also make sure that the consignment has been delivered through our online consignment tracking with the consignment note number. Look through Finland's Road Transport Agreement Act to see the responsibilities and obligations of the consignor, carrier and consignee.

The following information is helpful when searching for a consignment:

  • detailed information on the lost consignment (packaging, size, weight, date of consignment etc.)
  • consignor's contact information
  • consignee's contact information
  • consignment note number

Before the compensation claim is processed as a lost goods claim the carrier has the right to look for the goods for 28 days from the date the consignment was handed over for shipment. Before the expiry of this time the matter is dealt with as a delayed consignment. If you want a replacement transport during that time, please contact the carrier to agree on the matter and relevant responsibilities.

Unless the consignment is found within 28 days the carrier's responsibility is limited to the value of the consignment at the time of shipping, however, at most €20 / actual weight per kilo.

Submit the compensation claim to VR Transpoint as soon as possible. If the consignment is covered by a goods insurance policy the compensation claim shall be in the first instance submitted to the insurance company which has issued the insurance policy.
